Karin VanSlyke Beickert

Meet the Keeper of the Realm.

Divine Realm Books is the creation of Karin VanSlyke Beickert, a registered nurse who spent her career in healthcare before following her passion for books and community. For Karin, opening a bookstore wasn’t a departure from nursing — it was a natural evolution of the same core values: helping people, creating comfort, and contributing positively to the community.

“I didn’t leave nursing because I stopped caring about people; in many ways, I’m opening a bookstore because I still do,” Karin explains. “A bookshop is another kind of care environment—one that encourages connection, curiosity, and a sense of belonging.”

Inspired by her own love of fantasy and the joy of helping others discover stories that speak to them, Karin created Divine Realm Books as a space where readers can slow down, browse intentionally, and feel at home.
